Stone Island did not launch as a solo brand of designer clothing until 1983. With a goal to produce durable clothing, the designer clothing line invested in material research in order to stay ahead of other Italian designers. Because of this the company established a line of clothing with a reputation for being durable and long lasting. With the company’s good branding and through their easily identifiable logo and the designer clothing continued to be prosperous.

By the mid-1990’s Stone Island launched their Marina range of designer clothing, a lower priced sportswear line.

Because of some worries about imaging, the designer clothing line decided to change its logo. Some disliked the change, but many stuck by the line.

Over the years, Stone Island continues to grow and prosper with unique items such as their lightening proof coat, a chain mail coat and the illusive camouflage ice jacket.
